These are the checks our own agent runs on every website it builds, before it is allowed to say the site is finished.
A contact form that delivers nowhere
The worst one, and it is not rare. A form can look completely normal, thank the visitor, and throw the enquiry away — we found exactly this on a real business's site, six pages of it, every lead lost since the site went live. If nothing on the page says where the message is sent, we tell you to go and test it.
Whether a phone can read it
Without a viewport tag, a phone renders the page at desktop width and shrinks it until the text is unreadable. Most small-business visitors are on a phone.
The line Google shows
The page title and meta description are the blue link and the grey sentence in a search result. Missing them means the search engine writes them for you, from whatever it finds first.
Whether machines can tell what you are
Structured data is the small block that says "bakery, Hartford, open until 6" rather than leaving a page of unlabelled text. It is increasingly what decides whether an assistant like ChatGPT can recommend you at all.
Link previews, HTTPS, robots.txt and a sitemap
Pasting your address into a text message should show a card, not a bare URL. A site on plain http gets a "Not secure" warning. A sitemap is how a new site tells a search engine what it has.
