Terms of Service

Last updated 24 August 2026. Plain English, and it describes what actually happens rather than what would be convenient for us.

Who you are contracting with

Casso Websites, a sole-proprietor business operated by Jon York, 40 Belknap Road, West Hartford, CT 06117, United States. Contact: casso@casso-websites.com. Using the service means you accept these terms.

What the free plan is

You can have a website built and hosted on a .bycasso.com address at no cost, and keep it for as long as you want it. We do not put an expiry on it and we will not hold it hostage to make you upgrade. Sites on the free plan carry a small “Made with Casso” credit in the footer.

The honest caveat: this is a small business, and if it ever stopped operating we could not host your site forever. If we were ever going to take free sites down, we would email you first and give you your files.

What the paid plan is

$96 per year, billed once a year through Stripe. It covers:

The domain name itself

You tell us the name you want. If it is available, we register it and point it at your site. If the one you want is taken, we will tell you and you can pick another. Standard .com, .net and .org names are covered; unusual or premium-priced domains are not, and we will say so before anything is spent.

Connecting it, and the certificate

DNS and HTTPS are set up by us. There is nothing for you to configure.

Hosting, and continued edits

Your site stays live and you can keep emailing us changes.

Setting a domain up is work done by people and it is not instant. We tell you when it is done; we do not claim it is finished before it is.

If you already own a domain, we will connect that instead, and the price is the same.

Renewals and cancelling

The subscription renews once a year at the same price unless you cancel. Email us and we will cancel it — you do not have to find a settings page or talk to anyone persuasive. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your site moves back to a free .bycasso.com address at the end of the period you have paid for.

A domain name registered for you is registered for a year at a time. If you stop paying, we stop renewing it, and it will eventually expire and become available to other people. Tell us before that happens and we will help you move it to a registrar of your own.

Refunds

If something has gone wrong, or you paid for something we did not deliver, email us and we will refund you. We would rather give the money back than argue about it.

What we ask of you

Do not use Casso to publish anything illegal, to impersonate someone else, to run a scam or a phishing page, or to host malware or content that infringes someone's copyright. We can take down a site that does, and we will tell you why.

You confirm that you have the right to use the text, images and logos you send us.

Who owns what

The content of your website is yours. Ask and we will send you the files. A domain we registered on your behalf is yours to take with you — ask and we will start the transfer.

Casso's own software, brand and this website stay ours.

What we do not promise

We do not guarantee uninterrupted uptime, and we cannot promise your site will rank in Google for anything. The service is provided as it is. Our liability to you for anything that goes wrong is limited to what you have paid us in the previous twelve months, which for most people is $96 or nothing. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not let us limit.

Changes to these terms

If we change them in a way that affects what you are paying for, we will email people with an active subscription before it takes effect.
